The Pain of Anticipation...

I am trapped- in many ways frozen... listening. Simply waiting for direction, for God to move in my life and do something. I believe He can and will. I also believe it will be something very powerful when it happens.

Heard a message today about Nehemiah rebuilding the wall and restoring a sense of identity in hurting people. I was moved by what was said. The whole point was that it's okay to hurt- even to be devastated. It's healthy to humble ourselves and cry before the Lord, then wait for Him to answer...

I would describe my existence right now as a state of painful anticipation. I know something powerful is going to happen, but don't know how or when. Anticipation is such sweet torment... before Christmas or prior to a dental appointment.

I have a vision. I'm in love with a dream that hasn't come true. It's the agony young lovers feel when they are passionate for each other but have yet to consummate their love.

Just want you to know that I prayed for you as I read this post. Waiting can be so hard some times.

This is when you grit your teeth, start singing and "Fake it till you make it."

I've been there more times than I care to recall. But the burdens got easier as I sang and praised the Lord. And there literally were times that the music was forced and void of emotion. But I chose to begin praising the Lord, and eventually, the burdens were removed.

God inhabits the praises of His people. My prayers are with you.

I am not sure what it is you are anticipating, and it is none of my business. I will say, however, that in my wanderings I have found that the anticipation is often given as a gift to give weight to that which will be. The preparation and anticipation focuses our mind, and helps to make certain events indelible. Sometimes it is the event itself that this weight is there for, sometimes God uses this intense focus as the string around our finger to remember a lesson that is unassociated.

How many stories begin with, well it happened while I was.... Often regardless of the relevance of that event. These anticipatory times are the best times to open up and ask God what it is that you are expected to learn.

(BTW, my word verification for this comment is iwalkwu. Perhaps a message for you from the lord? I WALK With yoU?)

never give up hope on God .. God has said that if you ask me I shall give .. just ask and pray .. it might be late but it will happen .. God willing.

See .. one should be grateful .. you should be grateful and I am sure you are. Let me tell you why? I am glad that you anticipate .. yes painful but you have hope .. see many people live without hope .. imagine how painful would that be? i.e. they know that this is as good as it gets .. but you have hope .. and a sweet hope .. a hope i am sure when u think about brings a smile on ur face :) ..

Do not give up hope .. and do not give up humble prayers ..

Praying for you! I am very impatient and I want things on my time rather than God's time. I always have to re-read Jeremiah 29:11-14 in times like this.

Think of worst times, humble yourself, and it might become easier to go through waht you are going....I can almost feel your pain.

In the end whatever we do does not really matter, for good and bad times are not determined by our good or bad deeds, rather the mercy and love of God.

His mercy and Love is limitless, and unconditional. In bad, and in good, we should always thank Him sincerely.

What befalls upon each of us is the will of God, and He only commanded us to strive in righteousness, and does not expect us to generate results for generating results is only the domain of God.

Great insights, everyone! :o)

Samrina, thank you for regarding me as a sister- the feeling is mutual.

Welcome, Wanderer. Stop in any time.

Rose, truly praise for the Almighty is helpful.

Donny, patience is very difficult for me as I'm a mover in life. One of the hardest things for me is to be in a holding pattern with no clear sense of direction. I'm doing my best to wait on God...

Nabeel & Brainsyke, your words are sooo true. Thanks for sharing...
